A scent of revelry and ruin, decay clinging to fading beauty. Candlelight flickers through shuttered windows, masking backroom dealings and whispered secrets. Spilled cognac and a dribble of absinthe stains warped mahogany, smoke curls languidly from clove cigarettes, and wilted gardenia petals drift through the scent of hothouse osmanthus.
